[Filtered from Prefect, lol.]

Barge. Tell me stories about Prefect. I'm curious about what type of man he is.

[Inmate filter.]

Or any of the other wardens. Is there anyone in particular that a new inmate should watch out for?

[Private - Prefect]

You promised me a drink, warden.

Alright.

[And here's Barron, managing to find the laundry room on level six. A triumph of wandering around looking at things rather then actually knowing where stuff is.]

[Sylar's already waiting, leaning back against a washing machine with his arms folded, casual like a boss. He's not actually doing laundry, he just wanted to see if Prefect's new inmate would listen to what he said and is glad to see it worked out.]

"Sylar.. My name. Who are you?"

[Barron thinks that your introduction is a bit strange, Sylar. But he's not letting it show. Instead he grins, offering his hand for a handshake.]

Barron Sharpe. Thanks so much for your help today, man. It means a lot to me.

[Sylar gives the handshake a bti of demeaning glance, but then holds out his hand to accept it with a begrudging sort of 'this is so below me' sigh.] "I've known Prefect for two years and I hate him. I'll tell you anything you want to know-- everything you want to know. And more."

[Barron shakes Sylar's hand, normally. With his gloves on, he really can't use his power. He gives Sylar a smile. Mainly because he finds Sylar more than a little bit creepy.]

Sounds great. So, where do you want to start? [Hopefully there wasn't going to be a catch.]

grayatonement: (this is going to be fun)
From: [personal profile] grayatonement
"He and I became close during a flood." [Sylar begins, taking a half-step back and leaning on one of the washers.] "We thought we were in love during the flood. It was ridiculous. He's completely afraid of physical contact, more back then than he is now. He was an inmate, if you didn't know. We became friends. I was delusional. He used to keep inventory of things, boxes in his room. He was obsessed with buying and selling; I don't know if he still is. It was more important to him than anything else at the time. He wanted to be part of a collective, never to have his own opinions. All that mattered was the hive mind. He comes from a place called The Factory. He was an 'Alpha Plus' there."

[Sylar pulled a paper from his pocket, handing it over to Barron. It listed the ranks of The Factory, among some other information:
'Delta minus, Delta Standard, Delta plus, Gamma minus, Gamma Standard, Gamma Plus, Beta minus, Beta standard, Beta plus, Alpha minus, Alpha standard, Alpha Plus.
Managers/Ruling Class: The Directors, The CEO's, The Superiors.']

"The goal of The Factory was to do everything they could to help the 'consumer' and to facilitate their needs. Prefect was good at his job. In the end, his own workers revolted and killed him. He still feels guilt for it."

[There was more, but it seemed like a good start.]

The fear of physical contact is justified, though. [It just proved Prefect wasn't dumb enough to let himself get easily worked. Knowing Prefect's background could only help too. Even if it did seem confusing, to say the least. Barron had the distinct feeling that he should be writing what Sylar had said down.]

The rest of it sounds pretty brutal. A worker revolt is a nasty thing. Especially if there was a death worker or two there. He wouldn't have stood a chance. [Barron thinks that it's the other kind of worker. :c]

[Sylar sighs, realizing some bits are getting lost in translation.] "There's no reason to fear physical contact where he's from. Why would you fear it?" [A pause.] "I don't know what a death worker is. In his world, it was a person that did a job. The same as the inmates who do jobs here, only less guilty, perhaps. Their entire lives were 'The Factory' and nothing else mattered. All he wanted was to go back and his biggest fear was that he wouldn't be good enough to. He's not, but I don't think he wants to anymore. Maybe that's what his graduation was, realizing how pathetic he was. Though I suppose he still is, in some ways."

"They read what The Factory told them to. The games they played, the schedule they kept, the associates? Prefect never had a relationship in any meaningful way before coming. Here, he's never had anything romantic. His friends were Harvey Dent, myself for a time, Ralph, his warden Sam Tyler. He was obsessed with his twin that used to be here, Nathan Petrelli."

"He was pathetic, weak. I was weak when I was with him. He apologized for everything and called people that abused him friends. He slept under a desk, as if it would protect him more from the evils of the world. He became an alcoholic later. He killed himself at one point. Prefect was afraid of being responsible, of being held accountable. He wanted the Factory to blame for everything. I don't know how he is now, but I can't imagine he's that different. Mention the Factory, his rank. He'll waver."

[The killer pressed his lips out for a split second as an arrogant gesture of contemplation.] "Do you want his history as well? His childhood, what happened in The Factory?"

[Okay, Barron's actually pulling a notebook out of his pocket and starting to make notes. Because he's very concerned that he's going to forget this all later and it's excellent stuff.]

I gather that you two aren't friends anymore, considering your opinions of him. [Barron paused. Smiled.] Not that they're wrong. I think you're right on the money. The things about the Factory, well, knowing that is going to help me. And the rest of it.

[Barron paused, scribbling a few things down.] I hadn't realized that Prefect was that unstable. It explains a lot though. [It was probably the effects of blowback. Barron was starting to suspect that Prefect was an emotion worker.]
