Huh, so you're a graduate and return to be a warden sort of guy. I can't really get the logic of doing that. If I had the chance to leave, there's no way I'd be coming back here. Ever.

Yeah, if my deal weren't patently impossible without near-divine intervention, I'd be home fighting the good fight.

As it's nearly public knowledge ... [ SIGH; no fucking privacy on this ship ] My deal is for to enable me to restore the sun of my homeworld to stability thirty-odd years in my past, allowing the two populated planets around it to continue to exist, thereby bringing my species-- and an... old friend's back from extinction. Also, hopefully, keeping me from erasing myself in the ensuing process as my personal timeline severs from the the fantastically awesome where trillions and trillions of lives don't snuff it in a matter of minutes.

So, yeah. I came back as a warden because even my genius hasn't figured out how to do that without invoking a godlike mulligan for that corner of the universe.

Most people want to go home. Or find a new home, if that's what they think is best. But everybody wants a place t belong. We all just define it differently.
