Kay reckons that the barge is getting to be more like an actual prison. I guess that's true, but I don't understand why he'd start to do it now. I can't see anywhere in my journal that says changes like this have happened before. Am I right or am I missing stuff?

I met your friend. So, what are you doing there? Just making alliances or have you got something more specific in mind? [Real friends, what are real friends?]

We met once before, sort of. I was in Dean's body awhile back during the flood that swapped us around. I was his Inmate before.

Anyway, you're right. I was planning on contacting you shortly myself.

[Hopes Barron's time on the Barge has helped him deal with the various emotional manipulation that they all put each other through. Otherwise, things have the potential to get very messy.]

That's yeah...that's one way of putting it.

[Love to the point of hysterics, memory wipes, forcing people into assassination, turning loved ones into cats...someone is going to be taken with a grain of salt until he can do some comparing and contrasting with Dean.]

Yeah, I'm a master of the understatement. But things did get really, really messy. But I want you to know, it's not fair to blame Cassel for the things that happened on my account. It's also not fair to get on his case because of how he acts. I know the sarcasm can be pretty hard to deal with, but it's just his way of coping. Our dad and Philip dying really messed him up, you know?

It sounds like the both of you have been through a lot. Honestly, sarcasm doesn't bother me that much. I mean, I could do without it but it's manageable. That being said, just because someone feels a certain way or has had certain things happen to them, it doesn't mean they are free of responsibility for their actions.

I know, man. You won't believe how much I know that's true.

But the thing is, Cassel's already had a lot of bad experiences with cops. They've arrested people in his family, blackmailed him and tried to control his entire life. That's all in his file; you can check it if you don't believe me. So you've gotta keep that in mind when you talk to him.

What are some good ways to get through to him if I'm worried about something that he's dismissive of?

Honestly, the best thing you can do is give him space. If you respect his boundaries, he'll come around in time.

That's actually the opposite of what I'm saying. If you want to get a free ride and ignore my brother, you and me are going to have serious problems. I'm just asking you to try and be sympathetic.

You don't have to worry about that. I'm your brother's Warden, which makes him my responsibility. Anyone who gets in the way of him graduating is going to have serious problems with me.
