[Barron sounds like death warmed up. This was intended to be private to Prefect, but due to the flood's affects he couldn't be bothered with it.]

You know what's amazing, comrade? When you reckon that the human body would have a limit to how much vomit it can chuck up. Pro tip? There isn't one. I must have hurled at least a dozen times today.

[A pause, because that lie is not helping Barron feel better right now.]

I think I'm gonna keep drinking until it goes away.

Times like that. Or when I think telling someone the truth would really hurt them.

[More pain. Prefect lies when he can't be bothered to continue conversations, and when he thinks it'll be funny, and sometimes when he wants to make people feel guilty... He's just going to... try and smile as he says this.]

Comrade, believe me, if there was anything like that then I'd tell you. I was more thinking things like... If someone does something extremely foolish, and many people line up to tell them how stupid they have been, and they are suffering because of the mistakes they have made?

If they ask you: "Was it really that bad, what I did? Will those people ever forgive me?"

I think then, that I would lie to them. Because they're already paying for their mistakes and they already know that they were wrong. They just... are asking you for support. Not for the truth.

[Barron laughs, because he knows Prefect isn't Cassel. Cassel would never have made out with Barron when he was drunk. Hopefully.]

Good. Then I promise that I'm not anyone from your world in disguise.

[Prefect laughs in return, the sound bursting out of him without him meaning for it too. He knows Barron isn't from his world, because there is absolutely no possibility that Barron would be his friend if he was. He'd either hate him for being a Prefect, or hate him for betraying the factory.]

This is a gesture that might count for more if you live entrenched in a world based on changing people's existences with the touch of your hand.] You know, Comrade. If we're going to have a handshake toast on the matter of trust, you should try and cut back on lying to me a bit.
