Well, that was enlightening. Being a cat was kind of enjoyable, to be honest. I've had worse weekends in my life.

Quick question, barge at large. How many of you aren't actually really old? As in, under twenty five? It seems like the vast majority of people are outside of that age group, but I'm curious. And also disappointed by the lack of learning opportunities around. Most prisons normally have some type of educational program to get qualifications, which isn't really relevant to us, but it does have the potential to give some of us something to do.

[Private - Prefect]

Hey. Are we going to meet up? I haven't seen you in a while. [Guess what, Prefect. It's a Tuesday.]

Really old doesn't start until the mid-forties.

Now, what education do you have interest in pursuing, Barron? I'm an able teacher.

I was thinking over thirty.

There's not much point in doing it here. I used to be a law student. For the moment I just need something. Maybe even math. [Something to fill up his brain with, to try and make sure the after affects of his power take out less important memories.]

Pick a number I'm not grouped under.

Is there absolutely no goal in mind? [He hrms.] My teaching methods focus on individual talents, most often, and I'm well aware of what your talent is. My door is open to you for maths, science, literature, and so on, and the little memory issue you frequently encounter, if you'll allow me to assist.

I was thinking anyone over however old you are.

No goal except eliminating boredom. There's only so much fiction you can read, you know. [Pause.] Right. And how would you do fix that? I don't really need it at the moment, but it could be useful for when I get my power back.

Better.

There's always a solution. Magic could eliminate the after-effects of your ability, or store your memories. Or you could have it target insignificant stretches of knowledge.

That's the thing. You can't harness the blowback. It's literally impossible. People have been trying for centuries. There could be something else here that could do it, but nothing from where I come from can.

We're in the ideal environment to prove that wrong.

I'll talk to Prefect, to see if you can have your ability temporarily returned.

I guess so.

You can if you want, just make sure you do it in a day or so. I think he's in a bit of a mood at the moment.

Yeah, I think so. He gets a bit tense, you know.

A spot of wine might help with that.

You have wine?

Hey, I'm twenty too. When's your birthday?

Yeah, it's pretty common. Part of rehabilitation and all of that. Or so I heard.

15th of October.

Oh, right.

So they let you out of the prisons? I mean, for the Previous. You see people after they leave, right?

From: [identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com
That means I'm older than you.

Yeah, of course. And while they're in the prison too.

When's your birthday?

...I see. Are the prisons like this? I mean, apart from the difference you've pointed out already.
