[Prefect groans slightly when rolled onto his back, scrunching his eyes shut. Every movement makes him worry that something important inside of him is going to snap off and get lost somewhere in his insides.

The doctor isn't someone who Prefect really knows, but he likes the look of him. Pavi had facial scarring, Harvey had facial scarring, this guy has facial scarring! It's definitely a completely randomly applied point in his favor.]

I could hardly explain how it works, but I've double checked behind it enough times to know that it's accurate. And right now, I want to work as quickly as possible before having him moved to the Infirmary.

[After reading the prognosis from the scan, he gives a bit of a sigh.]

No ruptures or major lacerations. That's good at least. I won't have to operate right here. Several broken ribs. Kneecaps as well. He should be stable enough to transport to the Infirmary.

Man, I think they were having some blow out about something. If you ask me, Beatty is just a psycho. I don't see why anyone would want to hurt Prefect.

[Barron squeezed Prefect's shoulder gingerly. The prognosis was better than expected, provided that this doctor was the real deal. Even so, it was inevitable that Prefect would have to be moved. Barron was willing to bet that it was going to be painful.]

Could you give him some drugs or something? [Barron said, glancing over at Black Jack's bag.] Like morphine?

I'm sure I have something to dull the pain for the short term. I'd rather not give him anything too strong until we're in possession of his file and there's no chance of causing an unwanted reaction.

[Opening his bag, he pulls out a tiny bottle and syringe. After giving Prefect the injection, which will gradually cause the pain to become more like a dull throbbing, Black Jack closes his bag.]

That should allow him to be moved without too much pain.

[Barron was about to object, but he had the niggling memory that Prefect came from somewhere weird. So the doctor's reluctance to use strong drugs was probably justified. Barron watched the injection quietly.]

What are they going to do with him once we get to the infirmary?
