[Oh god Prefect sounds pretty drunk as well. Is this a good idea?]

I dunno. Near some blue building thing and the sea. Can you make your journal into a GPS?

[This sounds like a good idea to someone as drunk as Barron.]

No. But wait for me. I can see a blue building right now on the other side of the beach.

Wave your arms so I can see you.

[MASTER PLANNING GOING ON HERE]

Cool. Walk fast, the boat keeps on trying to go away from the beach. Also, that angry alien dude might come back.

[Barron is in the boat. The boat that is not his.]

I'm walking as fast as I can!

Oh god, one of my shoes came off...

...I can't reach it!

Comrade I might need you to come and help me I am really struggling to stay upright right now.

[BECAUSE NO HE IS NOT PUTTING HIS FOOT BACK DOWN ON THE GROUND WHEN HE ONLY HAS ONE SHOE ON >C]

[Sound of Barron's communicator being dropped and then picked up.] Okay, okay. Just stay where you are. Can you see the ocean?

[He's hoping for a yes.] Because I'm gonna sail to you.

Yes.

[Oh god everything about this is terrible.]

Okay I'm going to watch the ocean until you get here.

Can you see me yet? Can you see me? [Whispered over Barron's communicator.]

[Prefect may see a silent boat that appears to have no one in it floating around the corner, still relatively close to the sand.]

I can see a boat, but I don't see you, Comrade.

[And his leg is starting to get tired! Prefect gives an awkward little hop and tries to drunkenly maintain his balance.]

Good. [Barron is still whispering over the communicator. The boat abruptly turns and beaches itself on the beach. Barron's head pops up out of the boat. He sees Prefect, is about to wave, then stands up. He almost falls out of the boat.]

Shit, man. This is an emergency. [Barron yells over to Prefect, before starting to jog over to his warden. It isn't a very coordinated jog, but he knows how gross sand on your feet can be.]

[Yes, damn it! It is an emergency! And Barron understands that and Prefect feels strangely moved by that fact.]

Yes! Comrade, you... you are the best.

[Best inmate, best memory worker, best loyal helper with his single shoe problems, BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD.]

[Barron stops just in front of Prefect, before noticing that his warden appears to be wearing a sarong and board shorts. He pauses, because this is a serious emergency.]

Dude, you're wearing your cape wrong. [Barron looks at the sarong seriously.]

It's not a cape. [Prefect informs Barron, knowledgeably] It's a sarong, and I am wearing it correctly.

[Also you're okay with him super quickly reaching out to put his hands on your shoulders, right? Because otherwise he is going to fall over and that is no good at all.]

That's for- [Barron pauses, then shrugs. His warden is wearing a sarong. Whatever.]

Okay. To the boat! [Barron said, having no problem with these arms on shoulders.] You know what a piggyback is, right?

A piggyback? [Prefect hesitated, very slightly. The cogs in his head were clearly turning.] I know what that looks like? One person climbs on the back of another person and then that person carries them?

I know of them but have never performed one before.

[Barron nods.] That's the one.

[He's too drunk to really notice the strangeness of Prefect's reply. Either that or he's just getting used to Prefect being Prefect.] You ready to go?

Are we going to do one? A piggyback?

[Prefect looked at Barron, searchingly, as if it had occurred to him just then that some small part of this plan may be flawed... but he quickly brushed the thought away.]

All right, Comrade. You tell me what to do and I shall do it!

Yes. [Barron said, the voice of logic and determination. He started to turn around slowly.]

Keep your hands on my shoulders and hold on tight. Otherwise sand. [Barron felt that he needed to emphasize just how serious the situation was.]

[Not sand! Prefect gave a decisive nod, before wrapping his arms around Barron's shoulders more firmly, and obediently keeping a tight hold.]

Right. Yes. I've done that now.

[Was this really all there was to it? This seemed like a doable thing...]

Alright. Hold on tight. [Barron managed to bend down a bit and lift Prefect into a piggyback position. Given the amount he had to drink, getting to the water's edge seemed somewhat challenging. He started to walk slowly down there, focusing on not wobbling too much. The chances of toppling over and covering Prefect in sand were pretty high.]

[Well this was strange and terrifying. Prefect pushed his face into Barron's back and tried not to think about the swirling seasickness of being carried this way across the beach.]

Please don't fall over.

[It's a humble enough request, he thinks.]

[Barron very nearly did just that as they approached the edge of the water.]

Fall? Me? I've never fallen in my life!

[He stared to wade into the water, towards the edge of the boat.]

[That seemed like a lie, but Prefect didn't want to point this out now that they were over open water, which was arguably the only thing worse than sand. Instead, he crossed his legs over Barron's belly, and hung on in dedicated silence.]

[Barron finally got alongside the boat, grabbing it with his free hand. He did what could have been called a slide into the boat by a kind person, or what a more honest person would call a fall. The boat rocks, dangerously.]

Calm down, boat. [And that's all Barron's doing to fix the situation. He's busy lying in the boat.]

[He's a go-getter, that Barron. Normally Prefect might do something more than just lie in the bottom of the boat and hope for the rocking to eventually stop on it's own, but he's at that point of drunkenness where having been kind of dropped down onto a hard surface has only given the world the opportunity to make it absolutely clear how quickly it's spinning.

Instead, he just kind of lies there with his arms and legs still hooked loosely around Barron.]

I think that went pretty well, Comrade. You are a very reliable person to be carried by.
